The Chalkboard
Project is a collaborative effort among five Oregon foundations
with one objective: to create a better Oregon for all of us to
live in. The goal of the project is to help Oregon put in place
a system of schools that are among the best in the nation:
schools that deliver measurable results and are accountable to
Oregonians, and receive predictable and adequate funding.
The Chalkboard Project
reflects a commitment to engage Oregonians in a new level of
informed civic dialogue on K-12 education. To begin, Chalkboard
has kicked off its 18-month “Discovery”, combining public
opinion polling and practitioner focus groups, research on the
best practices in education, and public meetings throughout the
state to produce an action strategy for change. It is important
to note that the Chalkboard Project will remain neutral and
independent, holding itself accountable to all Oregonians.
Ultimately, the intension is to facilitate a new vision for K-12
public education in our state based on the ideas and
recommendations of citizens. Chalkboard is going to need help
from citizens across the entire state in order to ensure all
kids receive the top-notch education they deserve…please learn
