How to Join OPU
Oregon parents
wishing to join OPU/SUPPORT must contact us at our Email addresses,
opu@bendbroadband.com
In your initial contact, please introduce yourself and your
child(ren) by name and age. Provide a brief introductory
story relating to your experiences with the public school systems in Oregon indicating whether your child is on
a Section 504 Plan or IDEA 1997 IEP. Any other personal introductory material is welcome, but please make your
first post to us brief. Once we verify some of your identifiers, the list administrator will formally
welcome you. At that time, please feel free to give us your whole story. You can see samples some of our experiences
by connecting to "Our Stories."
OPU maintains a confidential contact information archive that is mirrored on a second server. This archive is
maintained so that members can be contacted the best way, depending on the needs of the list administrators.

In your initial contact to us, we ask you to provide
- your full name (no Email nicknames,)
- your Email address. If you have an office or alternate Email address, please add that as well
- your full street address, including apartment number if applicable
- If you receive RFD mail, please include the number of your
route number and Post Office Box
- your city
- your Oregon zip code
- your telephone number preceded by area code
- any other phone number at which you can be reached
We will not accept applicants who can only be contacted through a by PO Box and no other means.

If you do not wish some of your identifying information to be released to other members, we will honor your
request, and not include that information in our "list address book." For purposes of verifying your
identity, you must nonetheless provide that information for our archivist.
We ask each member of OPU with Email to create an OPU email group list. We periodically announce changes of
address. Your first response from us, once we verify your identifying information, may include all of our email
addresses in the "To" section of our email header.
We expect some members of OPU
not to be active correspondents. You are no less valued a member for just
"lurking." The reason we establish the contact information requirement is to
deny access to school authorities, community service providers, or others
employed or on contract to the public schools. This is a parent support list
only.
